Self-care is not selfish

It's the weekend! Hopefully time for some rest, fun, and relaxation!

For many of us though, our weekends can feel like the beginning of a second shift. It's the time to catch up on our errands, chores, family obligations - our to-do list seemingly never ends.

If you want to give your best to the world however, you need to fill yourself up first so you can serve others from the overflow. It's so important to make time to nurture your mind, body, and spirit. If you're running on empty, stressed out, and depleted, you're unlikely to have the time, energy, or inclination to treat others (and yourself) with kindness, patience, and compassion.

This weekend, make a promise that you won't give yourself the dregs of your attention - remember, you can't pour from an empty cup!

One of my favourite websites, mindbodygreen.com, offers some great suggestions on how we can nourish our hearts and souls and show ourselves some TLC:

1. Create a self-love ritual.💞 2. Build a precious community. 👯 3. Make a “What’s Working for Me" list. 📝 4. Know that your body is a loving vessel. 🤸 5. Clean out your closet.👕 6. No more comparisons. 🚫 7. Explore your spirituality.🙏🏾 8. Do something you're good at.🌟 9. Find your happy place. 😍 10. Build your letting go muscle.🍃 Head on over to my Caribbean Mindfulness Institute FB page for the link to the full article.

I think I'm going to try #3 this weekend...which one will you try?
