Harvard Medical School reports on a scientific study that looked at meditators vs. people on vacation and evaluated their stress levels and mental health indicators before and after the week-long study.
At the end, both groups - vacationers and meditators - showed statistically significant improvements in scores of stress and depression.
The results also showed that 10-months later the regular meditators still demonstrated marked improvements to their mental health and wellbeing. The vacationers returned to base-line levels.
